Metal material extrusion (MEX) is a cost-effective, energy-saving, and secure process among other metal AM techniques. In this work, a simulation of the heating and cooling process of an aluminum semi-solid metal MEX 3D printer is presented. The induction heat source model itself is non-conventional but is adapted to create a linear temperature gradient along the cylinder unlike previous stratified heat source designs. Additionally, the position, quantity, size, and cooling fluid are also simulated to examine the device's viability. The performances of new designs have been analyzed using numerical simulations in accordance with time. Subsequently, a production model is proposed, and suitable sensors are selected to satisfy the model. Simulation results show that the pitch of arithmetic series induction coil can make the temperature distribute linearly along heated part's length from 640 °C to 580 °C steadily. Cooling time to stabilize temperature to the necessary range takes 3.2 seconds.
