A zoonotic case of human endocarditis caused by Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus confirmed by whole genome sequencing

This case report describes a confirmed zoonotic case of endocarditis in a human patient caused by Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus. The same clone was isolated from the patient and his horses, confirmed by whole genome sequencing. The patient was discharged following six weeks of antimicrobial therapy.
