Fabric Study - Demographic Data

The
fabric study was a qualitative pilot study to explore end-user reactions to a
new potential vaginal dosage form for MPT. Focus groups were carried out at sites that
were currently or had previously carried out clinical trials of microbicide
vaginal gels: Durban, South Africa; Kampala, Uganda; and Harare, Zimbabwe.
Each participant was asked to answer a short demographic and background information questionnaire to collect such information as prior study participation, experience with other microbicides including gel, age, education, language, religion, income and employment, housing and housing conditions, marital/partnership status, experience with HIV prevention, experience with contraceptive methods, and current vaginal practices.
During the FGD and conversations, each participant was also asked to fill out a Shape Rating Form to assess preference for 3 different geometrical shapes for the fabric.
