This work represents the first characterization of the krill circadian transcriptome under laboratory conditions and provides a first insight into the genetic regulation of physiological changes, which occur around the clock in light-dark (LD) and in constant darkness (DD) condition. Overall design: Gene expression profiling was performed with the ‘‘Krill 2.0’’ custom platform (Agilent) in specimens collected at regular intervals throughout the 24 hours cycle (external times: 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, 21:00, 24:00, 03:00 and 06:00) in constant darkness (DD) condition.
