# Content

Map of each department extracted from Open Street Map, updated weekly.

__NB__: The [regions] (https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/carte-des-regions-francaises-nouvelles-regions-de-2016/) are also available.

Each department is delivered in the form of a ZIP archive containing several map layers in the shapefile fomat (cartography le.doc):
— places.shp: Names of cities or neighbourhoods
— roads.shp: All roads from the motorway to the pedestrian path
Buildings.shp: The built space
— Raillways.shp: Railway tracks
— waterways.shp: the hydrolic network
— paragraphs.shp: A list of points of interest
— Natal.shp: Green areas
— landuse.shp: Land cover
— admin-departement.shp: The Department

In addition, a very brief project file [QGIS] (http://www.qgis.org/fr/site/) is provided in the archive in order to view the overlay of the layers in a free tool.

# Origin

The data come from the Community and Free Mapping Database [OpenStreetMap] (https://www.openstreetmap.org/).

The breakdown by department comes from [Contours des départements français from OpenStreetMap] (https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/contours-des-departements-francais-issus-d-openstreetmap/).

Shapefiles are extracted in accordance with the method set out in the excellent article by Maxime Résibois on PortailSGI: Http://www.portailsig.org/content/recuperer-des-donnees-openstreetmap-gdalogr

The sources of automatic extraction processing are available on [GitHub] (https://github.com/lexman/carte-de-mon-departement). They are based on [Tuttle] (https://github.com/lexman/tuttle), a data building system.

# Licence
These data come from crowdsourcing carried out by the contributors to the OpenStreetMap project and are under an ODbL licence, which requires identical sharing and the mandatory assignment endorsement must be ‘© OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL licence’ in accordance with http://osm.org/copyright
