Dataset for impact of gender and social context on young women's career choices in STEM and entrepreneurship in Lithuania

The present study analyses the factors influencing the career choices of women aged 19-24 in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and entrepreneurship in Lithuania. The study involved 335 female respondents. The data was collected using a standardised survey method, employing a Likert scale. The findings indicated that rational factors, including potential income, hobbies and the attractiveness of the labour market, exert the most significant influ-ence on career choice. The significance attributed to family traditions, friends, and social trends is significantly diminished. The study reveals trends towards individualisation and demonstrates that contemporary young women base their career decisions on personal motivation and aware-ness
