Experimental Data from Methane-Enriched Freshwater Mesocosms at Gault Nature Reserve [Quebec, Canada, 2024]

This dataset is the product of a 30-day mesocosm experiment that took place within Lac Hertel at the Gault Nature Reserve in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Québec, Canada. The experimental objectives were to (1) observe effects on the plankton community after dissolved methane was artificially elevated, and (2) assess the impact of nutrient enrichment on those effects. Data include measurements of dissolved gases (in situ and after incubation), nutrients, chemotaxonomic assessment of phytoplankton using a Fluoroprobe, flow cytometric cell counts of picoplankton, and gross primary production using diel oxygen curves. A spreadsheet (.xls) describing variables in each data file is provided.
