Data from cruise no. 2022702, F/F Kronprins Haakon Nansen Legacy Joint Cruise 3

This dataset gives wet weights (g) per taxon in formalin fixed samples along with some fresh zooplankton organisms sorted from the catch on board during the cruise. The samples represent catches from a Midwater Ring Net (“MIK”, 2 m diameter) on a survey within the Nansen Legacy project in 2021. Large zooplankton were collected at four stations by hauling a MIK net vertically from 10-20 meters above the bottom to the surface, except P7 where a 1000m haul was done in addition to 3400m (bottom depth ~3406m). The MIK has a ~3.14 m2 mouth opening area, is ~13 m long, and with a mesh size of ~1600 μm apart from the last 1 m with mesh size of 500 µm (ICES, 2017). More details on the sampling method are given in Van Engeland et al. (2023) and references therein. Lower sampling depths are provided to enable calculation of volume and concentrations.
