<P>Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.</P><br>The purpose of this survey was to discover the stock of occupational skills, both used and unused available in Great Britain - that is, the types of work that people have done, and the training they have had for them.<br><B>Main Topics</B>:<BR><br>1) Present work:<br>
economic status (employed, self-employed etc) type of work (Key List occupation; industry; full/part time); number of employers - industry; dates of employment; size of establishment of present employer; secondary jobs - hours worked; Key List occupation; m.l.h.<br>
2) Education and further education:<br>
institution last attended before starting work; age on leaving; subsequent education (institution; date, type) and duration of 3 most recent courses; qualifications obtained; all qualifications held.<br>
3) Job history:<br>
start/finish dates of major changes in status or type of work since leaving school.<br>
4) First type of work and training for it:<br>
type of work (as for main job, excluding firm size); training received for this type of work.<br>
5) Training between end of first type of work and 1965.<br>
6) Employment and training last 10 years.<br>
7) Training for present type of work:<br>
before (present or different industry) and during.<br>
8) Other training since January 1974.<br>
9) Attitudes towards training:<br>
'frustrated' demand (reasons for 'frustration', date, type of work, methods of training, duration, source of support); rejected training (as for 'frustration').<br>
10) Classification data:<br>
age; sex; country of origin; year of arrival in UK; parents' country of birth; assessed colour; assessed command of English; membership of unions and associations; household composition (age, employment status); gross earnings.<br>
