The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing at least one layer of a film comprising the steps of providing a suspension comprising(i) a mixture of microfibrillated dialdehyde cellulose (DAC) and microfibrillated cellulose (MFC)， or(ii) a microfibrillated mixture of DAC and MFC，applying said suspension to a substrate to form a fibrous web， and drying said web to form at least one layer of said film.
