"Häuptling Lesio von Kindi" ("Chief Lesio of Kindi"). The chief is photographed standing next to a tree. He is dressed in a white cloth and wears a cap. Both his earlobes are pierced and extended through heavy earrings. He also wears a ring on his left hand and several necklaces.; The picture was probably taken by Johannes Schanz (1876-1963). He worked as a missionary of the Leipzig Mission in Moshi and Mamba from 1901 to 1910.
