Here we report results of experiments performed in a controlled climate chamber to characterize the diversity of bacterial communities inhabiting the growing media and leaves of five indoor plant species, and quantify microbial transfer dynamics and persistence on human skin following simulated touch contact events. To identify bacterial taxa, we sequenced the V3--V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene on an Illumina MiSeq 2X250 platform.
