RNAseq analysis of the Dionaea muscipula trigger hair

With its sophisticated snap traps, the Venus Fly Trap (Dionea muscipula) is able to sense, catch and digest insect prey. A key role in this process is the perception of prey which is done with specific trigger hairs. These have to be touched at least two time to induce trap closure. To better understand the molecular basics of this process, we have sequenced the transcriptome of the trigger hairs.
