Sequences of Salmonella Typhi isolated from Typhoid fever cases and asymptomatic carriers in Kenya

The goal of the study was to better understand Salmonella Typhi strains causing typhoid fever and chronic carriage in persons residing in a typhoid endemic area in Kenya, and to determine the role of asymptomatic typhoid carriage in transmission and persistence of typhoid fever.
