Change of antibiotics and relative abundance of ARGs in mesophilic and thermophilic anaerobic digestion systems

Lab-scale anaerobic digestion systems were run in parallel to see the differences of antibiotics concentration and relative abundance of ARGs (sul2, tetM and qnrD) between the mesophilic system and thermophilic system. In terms of reducing ARGs in anaerobic digestion system, both mesophilic and thermophilic performed well. The ARGs were never eliminated from both systems. In both systems, adding antibiotics did not contribute to the change of bacterial communities. In both systems, the bacterial comminities showed clustering based on manure addition
