A comparison between the intestine and spleen microbiota of healthy and diseased hybrid tilapia fish

The project aimed to define the differences between the microbiota composition of healthy and sick fish. We sampled intestine and spleen of 39 hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis aureus x Oreochromis niloticus) that were sampled from intensive freshwater aquaculture. The fish were categorized by two different health condition: sick fish (n=21) that showed external signs of disease and healthy fish (n=18) that showed no signs of disease.
