This repository principally contains stacked PIV imagery and resulting velocity profile data to accompany Hodgkinson, R 2017. "The effect of extensional flow on shear viscosity", PhD thesis, The University Of Sheffield, Sheffield UK.<br><br>The thesis can be found at the following reference:<br>http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/id/eprint/18327<br> <br>The organisation of the data within the compressed archive, additional experimental parameters, and details on reading the data (where appropriate) are described in the appendix of the thesis. <br>Briefly, "Oblique" contains fluorescence intensity data (interface.csv) and manually tracked particle vectors (track.csv) as attempted in section 8.1 of the thesis for an obliquely inclined lens system. "Verification" contains stacked/aligned tracer image pairs (.b16 files), outputted cross correlated vector fields (.dat files) and generated filtered/fitted data (.csv files) for the silicone oil - Newtonian solution verification work in section 8.2 of the thesis. "Run 1", "Run 2" and "Run 3" contain equivalent data on runs 1 to 3 of the silicone oil - PEO solution system examined in section 8.3 of the thesis. "Videos" contains some footage of the experiment demonstrating the flow stability: two close up videos and one timelapse recording taken of the expansion region of the experiment during run 2.
