DOE can pioneer a 21st Century cloud-based science workflow ecosystem; in so doing, it will transform and accelerate discovery

In this two-page white paper prepared for a US Department of Energy workshop on scientific workflow, I make two main points: 1) A research program in scientific workflow can deliver transformational new methods that accelerate discovery across the entire scientific enterprise. 2) DOE has the opportunity to lead the scientific community to a new era of 21st Century workflow based on massive outsourcing of activities to cloud services.
