Effect of ecological corridors on plant root endophytic mycobiota

Anthropogenic activities caused habitat destruction and degradation which led to fragmentation threatening the maintenance of biodiversity. Ecological corridors were proved to mitigate the effect from habitat fragmentation. Yet, research on the effect of ecological corridors in maintaining biodiversity has been mostly focused on macroorganisms, neglecting the invisible majority of biodiversity, i.e., microorganisms. Here, we analyzed the effect of corridors at centimetric scale on plant endophytic mycobiota dynamics. We analyzed mycobiota composition, diversity and assembly process at the whole community level associated with connected or isolated plant patches using a mesocosm design and high-throughput amplicon sequence.
