Sepsis, a life-threatening organ dysfunction triggered by a dysregulated host response to infection, presents as a multifaceted syndrome with a significant mortality-to-incidence ratio. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) arises from sepsis and is characterized by persistent hypoxemia. Studies indicate that ARDS plays a considerable role in the alarming mortality rate of approximately 40%. Despite the critical nature of timely and accurate identification of sepsisinduced ARDS (SI-ARDS) to improve patient prognosis, its varied presentation complicates early detection. As a result, SI-ARDS often remains undiagnosed and undertreated. An expansive international cohort study highlights that the immense workload and information overload faced by ICU clinicians, stemming from various sources like clinical reports and laboratory results, exacerbate the under-recognition of SI-ARDS. The absence of appropriate therapeutic strategies for unidentified SI-ARDS patients worsens their outcomes. This underscores an urgent requirement to support clinicians in the early identification and optimal treatment of SI-ARDS to enhance sepsis patient outcomes.
