These volumes contain clippings from daily newspapers, both local and overseas, concerning criticism of the size and expenditure of the department, staff retrenchments, excessive production costs, and publication delays, and reviews of exhibitions displaying the work of the department, of departmental publications in which the reviews make mention of the standard of printing, and of stamps designed by the department. Volume II (1/235) also contains many press clippings relating to printing machinery in other countries, and the detection of stamp forgeries.
