The purpose of this study was to elucidate the epigenetic mechanisms underlying ochratoxin A (OTA)-induced cytotoxicity in porcine intestinal epithelial cells, with a particular focus on chromatin accessibility and histone modifications. By integrating RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and CUT&Tag (H3K27ac) analyses, the research aimed to identify how OTA exposure leads to oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and ferroptosis through genome-wide changes in gene expression and epigenomic remodeling. The findings provide novel insights into the regulatory networks and transcription factors that drive ferroptotic cell death in response to mycotoxin exposure, highlighting potential molecular targets for mitigating OTA-induced intestinal damage in livestock.
