To understand the role of WRKY10 transcription factor in foliar pigmentation patterns in Marchantia (liverwort) and assess the conservation of its regulatory network in Lactuca sativa var. Redfire(angiosperm). Overall design: Marchantia Polymorpha; Lactuca sativa var Redfire 7-day old gemmalings of wildtype Marchantia Tak-1 and Mpwrky10 were treated with control (2 mM phosphate and 10 mM nitrate), phosphate deficiency (0 mM phosphate) and nitrate deficiency (0 mM nitrate) for 5 days. 4-day old seedlings of Lettuce were treated with control (2 mM phosphate and 10 mM nitrate), phosphate deficiency (0 mM phosphate) and nitrate deficiency (0 mM nitrate) for 7 days.
