Serious Injury Outcome Indicators: 2000–2020

Changes since the 2000-19 release: Changes to data: Suicide deaths (provisional) The suicide deaths/self-harm data is sourced from the Chief Coroner and is based on the dataset provided to the Ministry of Health for inclusion in the suicide reporting webtool. The methodology used to count suspected intentionally self-inflicted deaths from the Ministry of Justice’s case management system (CMS) has changed as of July 2021. This data will therefore differ from the previously published ‘provisional suicide statistics’ data published by Stats NZ. To ensure consistency across reporting years, the data extracted for the ‘Serious injury outcome indicators: 2000–2020’ release has been updated for all calendar years, 2009 through 2020, using the updated methodology. en-NZ
