*p**pResults are presented as Coefficient (95% confidence interval), where the coefficient represents the predicted change in the SF-8 physical composite score (possible range: 0–100) for each one-unit change in the predictor variable. The successive models show the attenuation of the association of trauma with the outcome as successive hypothesized mediators are added to the model. Model 1 shows the association of number of lifetime traumatic experiences with current health-related physical functioning, adjusted for sociodemographic characteristics and cohort fixed effects. Model 2 shows the same association after additionally adjusting for recent stressful life events, Model 3 shows the same association after additionally adjusting for current depressive symptoms, and Model 4 shows the same association after additionally adjusting for current PTSD symptoms.
