WFD River, Canal and Surface Water Transfer Water Bodies Cycle 2 Classification 2019

WFD River, Canal and Surface Water Transfer Water Bodies Cycle 2 Classification 2019 is an alternate version of ‘WFD River, Canal and Surface Water Transfer Waterbodies Cycle 2’ with the addition of 2019 classification data and additional user attribution including Catchment Partnership codes. The geometry has been simplified to improve user experience, so the ‘WFD River, Canal and Surface Water Transfer Waterbodies Cycle 2’ higher resolution data remains the legal definition of these water bodies under the WFD. These are polyline datasets identifying the river water bodies managed under the Water Framework Directive and any related programmes. This includes canals and surface water transfers which are reported to Europe as artificial rivers. These can be identified using the 'WB_CAT' field. These water bodies are represented by their centreline, and can be linked to other WFD data using the unique water body ID (WB_ID). The geometry of WFD River, canal and SWT Water Bodies Cycle 2 Classification 2019 is a simplified subset extracted from the Environment Agency’s Detailed River Network, with attributes removed and merged on the WB_ID.
