Verliebtheitsgefühle und damit assoziierte Phänomene gegenüber PatientInnen in der Psychotherapie

Verliebtheitsgefühle sind etwas Wunderbares und lassen die Gefühlswelt zu einer Achterbahn werden. Wenn derartige Empfindungen jedoch im psychotherapeutischen Setting gegenüber PatientInnen auftreten, können sie brisant sein. Dies stellte schon Freud fest. Diesbezüglich prägte er das Konzept der Gegenübertragung, das in den letzten 100 Jahren weiterentwickelt wurde. Empirische Untersuchungen zum Thema Verliebtheitsgefühle vonseiten Therapierender liegen viele Jahre zurück. Deshalb wurde in dieser Arbeit die Prävalenz von Verliebtheitsgefühlen und damit assoziierten Phänomenen gegenüber PatientInnen sowie entsprechende Einflüsse und Erklärungsmuster schweizweit bei PsychotherapeutInnen untersucht. Die Antworten der 409 Teilnehmenden wurden anhand quantitativer und qualitativer Methoden ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Verliebtheitsgefühle und viele der damit assoziierten Phänomene relativ häufig gegenüber PatientInnen vorkommen und dass dabei der Genderaspekt eine bedeutende Rolle spielt. Bezüglich Erklärungsmuster ist insbesondere hervorgegangen, was die Befragten unter Verliebtheitsgefühlen im therapeutischen Setting verstehen, wie sich ihnen Verliebtheitsgefühle gegenüber der Klientel gezeigt haben und weshalb diese Empfindungen entstehen können oder verhindert werden. Die Ergebnisse bieten eine breite Diskussionsbasis und regen zur Reflexion über ein heikles und oft tabuisiertes Thema an. Feelings of infatuation are something wonderful and turn one’s emotional life into a roller-coaster. However, if such feelings arise in the context of psychotherapy towards a patient, they can be dangerous. Freud already knew this. He coined the term of countertransference, which has developed over the last 100 years. Empirical studies on the topic of infatuation of therapists were performed many years ago. For this reason, this paper studies the prevalence of feelings of infatuation and associated phenomena towards patients and corresponding influences and explanation patterns among psychotherapists in Switzerland. The responses of the 409 respondents were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative methods. The results show that feelings of infatuation and many associated phenomena towards patients occur relatively frequently and that the gender aspect plays an important role. In terms of the explanation pattern, we found in particular what the respondents understand under «feelings of infatuation» in the therapeutic setting, how these feelings of infatuation toward their clients manifested, and why these feelings can arise or be prevented. The results offer a wide basis for discussion and will hopefully induce reflection on a touchy and often taboo subject. Tuttavia, quando tali sensazioni si verificano in ambito psicoterapeutico nei confronti dei pazienti, possono essere problematiche. Lo ha già affermato Freud. Gli studi empirici sul tema dei sentimenti di innamoramento da parte di persone in terapia risalgono a molti anni fa. Per questo motivo, in questo lavoro sono stati studiati dagli psicoterapeuti in tutta la Svizzera la prevalenza di sentimenti di innamoramento e fenomeni associati nei confronti dei pazienti, nonché le relative influenze e i modelli esplicativi. Le risposte dei 409 partecipanti sono state valutate usando metodi quantitativi e qualitativi. I risultati mostrano che i sentimenti di innamoramento e molti dei fenomeni associati sono relativamente comuni nei confronti dei pazienti e che l’aspetto di genere gioca un ruolo importante. Per quanto riguarda i modelli esplicativi, emerge in particolare ciò che gli intervistati intendono per sentimenti di innamoramento nell’ambiente terapeutico, come si sono mostrati loro i sentimenti di innamoramento nei confronti dei pazienti e perché questi sentimenti possono sorgere o essere prevenuti. I risultati forniscono un’ampia base di discussione e incoraggiano la riflessione su un argomento delicato e spesso tabù. reviewed publishedVersion
