Pest Attack Triggers Organic Fertilizer Induced Changes in Root Microbiome and Plant Volatile Emission. The Case of Mimicking Prays oleae feeding on Olive Trees.In this study, we simulated the attack of the carpophagous generation of P. oleae. We did this by inoculating undamaged fruits with either the product of the insect digestion or the insect itself. Following this, we investigated the influence of the root microbiome on the volatile emissions of olive trees in response to the attack in soil amended with vermicomposted olive wastes. We also examined how these defense mechanisms affected the natural enemy of the olive moth, C. carnea.
