The returns show, in regard to each place of sale, the following particulars: county, parish or town; number of portion; area; the upset price and that realised; total amount realised; value of improvements; and the name of the purchaser, his place of residence and occupation. The administration of auction sales of Crown lands was vested in the Colonial Treasury until 1857 and from 1858 to 1866 with the Surveyor General; hence records relating to auction sales prior to 1867 can be found among the records of these two agencies.(11/21652-939). 278 vols.
