资源简介:
Bumblebees are vital pollinators, with around 250 species globally and 45 in your country. Despite this, their populations are declining due to factors like pesticide use, climate change, diseases, and habitat loss. Some studies also predict that future climate change will alter their geographic distribution. This project aims to use genomic analysis to understand the genetic basis of bumblebee adaptation and decline. We will analyze the genomes of five existing species and sequence the genomes of five specific species: B. haematurus, B. argillaceus, B. armeniacus, B. fragrans and B. zonatus. These five were chosen for their unique traits, such as tolerance to lower temperatures. By comparing these genomes, we hope to identify key genes related to low-temperature tolerance, stress resistance, and pesticide resistance. This research will provide crucial insights into how bumblebees adapt, which is essential for developing effective conservation strategies. Understanding these genetic adaptations is critical for ensuring the long-term survival of bumblebee populations in both natural and agricultural environments.
