NRS-22218 | International Photographic Charts of the Heavens [Sydney Observatory]

This is a series of grid charts showing the positions of stars and planets in the various astronomical zones covered by observatories in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Mexico and Great Britain. They were sent and addressed to the "Government Astronomer, Sydney Observatory", in cylinders containing between ten and thirty-six charts, each or, in the case of Greenwich and Cordoba, packed flat in parcels. Some charts are missing from the Italian consignment and could be from others but this is difficult to determine as, although many of the rolls have lists of contents, many do not. Photo-telescopes were used in determining the observed positions - hence the term "Photographic Charts". The condition varies from mint (those never opened) to very poor.
