Human-influenced diets affect the gut microbiome of wild baboons

We compare the microbiomes of wild populations of olive baboons with differential access to industrialized human trash in Akagera National Park in Rwanda. Our results suggest that an industrialized diet is sufficient to alter the microbiome in wild baboons but there is a minimum threshold of dietary alteration that must occur before the microbiome is substantially altered.
