Reasons to drink non-alcoholic beer in the Netherlands 2017

Beer without alcohol is getting more and more popular in the Netherlands. This 2017 survey asked survey participants why they sometimes drink non-alcoholic beer. Nearly 60 percent of the respondents stated that they sometimes choose a non-alcoholic option because they still have to drive. Seven percent answered to drink non-alcoholic beer for medical reasons, and just under 20 percent said to enjoy the flavor. Indeed, another survey found that nearly one third of the respondents found alcohol-free beer just as tasty as the regular version.  Non-alcoholic beer drinkers Roughly 15 percent of the Dutch sometimes drink non-alcoholic beer. Alcohol-free and low-alcohol beer is especially popular among the 25-to 34-year-olds, although non-alcoholic beer drinkers are represented in all age groups. The age group with the lowest share of non-alcoholic beer drinkers was 65+, but even among this group 12 percent drank non-alcoholic beer at least once a month. Most popular non-alcoholic beer types   The same survey found that the most popular type of non-alcoholic beer among respondents from the Netherlands was beer mixed with soft drinks or fruit juice. Roughly two thirds of non-alcoholic beer drinkers participating in the survey stated to sometimes these beer mixes. By comparison, just over 20 percent answered to drink rose beer occasionally.
