Citizen Survey 2021, researcher file

The Citizen Survey is a measure of how the citizens of Norway assess public services, their trust in politicians and their assessment and trust in the public administration and the government. Additionally, the survey measures how satisfied the residents are with their lives and how they experience living in Norway and in their municipality. This survey is conducted by The Norwegian Agency for Public and Financial Management (DFØ) every two years and was conducted for the first time in 2010. In 2021 it was conducted for the sixth time.

The purpose of the survey is to contribute to the development of the knowledge base related to the status and need for improvement within government management, organization, management and competence. The results can be used by ministries, directorates, municipalities and businesses, but also function as a contribution to research, and as a basis for development of the state management as a whole. By highlighting points for improvement, the results can also be an important basis for formulating new policies. In addition, the Citizen Survey functions as a temperature measurement of the citizens' perception of the public sector and of political leadership, and helps ensure a prioritization of those whom the public sector exists for: the citizens themselves.
