The Status quo letter 1947

This dataset contains the original “Status Quo Letter,” issued in 1947 by David Ben-Gurion to representatives of the ultra-Orthodox community. The letter established the foundational understandings governing religion–state relations in the nascent State of Israel, including agreements on education, Sabbath observance, kashrut, and personal status law.
