In oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) which are induced by human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16), the frequency of HPV16 integration into the host cell genome was analyzed using next generation sequencing by applying our multiplex TEN16 strategy. The nucleotide sequences of the viral-cellular junctions of integrated HPV16 DNA in the tumors were determined. The aim of the study was to associate the HPV16 integration data with clinical characteristics and molecular markers of the tumors.
