Nuwejaars Catchment Water quality data, Western Cape, South Africa

In-situ water quality data were collected using a YSI multiprobe and fluorometer. At each site a minimum of three samples were taken and measurements recorded. Water samples were collected ad-hoc and the analyses done in the University of the Western Cape (UWC) Water Sciences laboratory using standard methods. The mean and standard deviation of each variable is given in the database. Sites were visited seasonally between March 2017 and March 2020 by the dataset creator.

This dataset forms part of a larger collaborative project in the Nuwejaars Catchment with UWC, and some of the data is presented in the WRC Project K5-2855 1&2, "Improving understanding of surface water - groundwater interactions from headwaters to lowlands for catchment scale sustainable water resources management". Other data collected in this study include aquifer testing, surface water level logging in streams and wetlands, water use by alien vegetation and invertebrate data collection.
