Due to the revised water protection legislation of 2011, the cantons are obliged to withdraw or adapt the water areas along their waters by the end of 2018. As a basis for calculating the minimum width of water spaces, their natural sole width is used in river waters. For standing waters of more than 0.5 ha, the water space shall be at least 15 m measured from the shoreline.
