VPRS 17883 Admission and Discharge Register of Patients: Inebriates (Royal Park Mental Hospital)

This series comprises of a volume detailing inebriate patient admissions to Royal Park (VA 2845). It is presumed that these patients were accommodated in the mental hospital as records indicate they were typically admitted for longer stays, whereas receiving houses were only for short term admissions.It is unknown why a separate volume for patients suffering from alcoholism was maintained by the hospital.The register includes:- admission number- date of admission- patient name- for what period committed- by whom committed- address- discharge details.Information regarding who was to pay for the patient's stay was also recorded.
