In the Alpine silver ant Formica selysi, a supergene determines the colony social organization. Single-queen (monogynous) and multiple-queen (polygynous) colonies co-exist within populations.The supergene has two non-recombining haplotypes, Sm and Sp.The goal is to study how this supergene controls alternative forms of social organization in the Alpine silver ant.
