Developing ovaries RNA-Seq of sexual and apomixis dandelion plants (PRJCA027669)

The apomixis has a great potential for application to crop breeding. Little has been known about the mechanisms underlying apomixis. Genetic studies indicate that the apomixis is a three-event process in the dandelion species, namely diplospory, parthenogenesis and endosperm autonomy, which are controlled by the independent loci in the apomictic dandelion genomes. To understand the molecular mechanisms of apomixis in dandelion plants, the ovaries at the stages of unopen capitulum (UOC), half-open capitulum (HOC) and close capitulum (COC) were collected from sexual and apomixis dandelions for comparative RNA-seq analysis.
