Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP1–3 and SSP5) Population Projections to 2300 (zen2300V15)

This dataset (beta version SSP2300_V01) provides long‑term (2100-2300) demographic projection outputs generated using the Multidimensional Demographic Modelling (MDM) workflow. It contains projections extending to the year 2300 for four Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP1, SSP2, SSP3, and SSP5), with results disaggregated by region, sex, age, and education. All files are provided in open CSV format. To ensure transparency, reproducibility, and ease of reuse, more files (input) will be added soon. Each projection scenario is uploaded as a separate CSV file, allowing users to download only the specific scenario they need. In addition to the projection outputs, the dataset includes a recode dictionary and a file overview, both of which support data interpretation. The projection files include five‑year interval estimates of population size, births, deaths, immigration, emigration, and (where applicable) education transitions. Variable descriptions, value labels, and category mappings are provided in Recode dictionary.csv. This dataset is part of ongoing work to extend the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) to the year 2300. A forthcoming IIASA Working Paper will provide methodological and analytical context for these results. Note: In this version for Mayotte, the total fertility rate (TFR) for the starting period is relatively high compared with the original SSPs (KC et al., 2024). And the extension resulted in a very high population for an island nation. This will be corrected in the next version.
