Guidance on how to determine the need for transport within administrative areas

The guide presents a methodology at the level of the administrative municipalities in Germany (LAU) to estimate the need for vertiports within a cell. The methodology can be applied for the entire Federal Republic of Germany or for individual federal states. It is also transferable to the district level (NUTS-3). The availability of the relevant data is decisive for the transferability to other types of areas. In addition to the vertiport requirements, the methodology with adapted input data can also be used for other mobility offers. Based on selected input data, the methodology identifies those cells of the selected administrative level that have an above- or below-average demand. As a benchmark, the methodology is always based on the average of the selected population (e.g. North Rhine-Westphalia).
