Effect of chewing gum on the oral microbiome

Characterisation of the human plaque microbiota before and after the administration of maltitol chewing gums or base chewing gums for two weeks. Study subjects are healthy individuals or patients with caries. Microbiome analysis is performed by 16S profiling of variable regions V1-V2 using Roche 454 GS-FLX sequencing.
