We designed our study to follow the microbial alterations over a total of 42 weeks in animals stemming from the same breeding facility in the original husbandry within a special pathogen free environment and three alterantive vivaria with a varying barrier. This approach allowed us to compare the influence of spatial relocation, sex and time on microbiome composition of individual mice.
