WEHI-601 resistant parasites contain a mutation in Plasmepsin V. Deconvolution of the on-target activity of plasmepsin V peptidomimetics in P. falciparum parasites

Resistance of P. Falciparum wildtype parasites were raised to peptidomimetic inhibitor, WEHI-601. These parasites were cloned and whole genome sequenced which revealed a SNP in the aspartyl protease Plasmepsin V (T371P) in both clones. This confirmed the on-target activity of the peptidomimetic series against PMV.
