Aggregated national account indices of the German Reich 1925 to 1936.

The contribution of Ditmar Keese deals with the analysis of the German economic in the period of 1925 and 1936 by means of a compilation of macroeconomic parameters, to gain consolidated findings about the time before, at, and after the economic crisis. The first part of the study discusses the more general Question of the economic crisis’ impact on Germany. After that the author sets up the national accounts of the years from 1925 to 1936 with the aim to record the development and the overcoming of the crisis. The report of the specific accounts of national accounting was done on the basis of the standard system of national accounting which was developed and published by the OECD in 1952. The selected easy mode of the national accountings representation in only six accounts results in the fact that all inland property transferences between the sectors cancel each other out, and hence, removed from the standard tables of national accounting. The six accounts are: the social product account, the social income account, the state’s revenues account, public authorities’ income accounts, property change account, and the account for foreign transactions.
The national investments are discussed in the third chapter, i.e. the compilation of internal gross investments: fixed investments and stock building.
The author closes with the foreign trade and the credit service sector. Starting point are the German balance of payments of the years from 1924 to 1935, and the imports and exports of the years from 1931 to 1932.
