Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of main pathogens of medical device-related infections due to its adhesion and biofilm-forming capacity on the organ surfaces of host. However, methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) is capable of forming biofilm in vitro and indeed such biofilms are resistant to vancomycin. Hence, studying the possible mechanisms of MSSA biofilm formation is urgent and necessary. Here, we used high-throughout Illumina sequencing of cDNA (RNA-seq) to study the differentially expressed genes of S. aureus ATCC 25923 (a quality control strain in antimicrobial susceptibility test, MSSA) biofilm by addition of two natural compounds and compared with multiple clinical drugs resistant MRSA biofilm supplemented with the same compounds.
