Global Populism Database v2 measures the level of populist discourse in the speeches of 241 chief executives (presidents and prime ministers) from 74 countries across all continents. The dataset covers 324 government terms and includes 1,240 speeches, mostly between 2000 and 2022. Each speech is coded manually by one or two coders using the "holistic grading" (Hawkins 2009) technique.
The v2 files extend the original database from 2019 and should be used. The 2019 files are maintained here for transparency and record-keeping.
全球民粹主义数据库第二版（Global Populism Database v2）针对覆盖全球所有大洲的74个国家的241位国家元首与政府首脑（总统及总理）的演讲，量化评估其中的民粹主义话语水平。本数据集涵盖324个执政任期，收录1240篇演讲，时间跨度主要集中于2000年至2022年。每篇演讲均由1至2名编码员采用整体评分法（holistic grading）（Hawkins 2009）开展人工编码标注。
