Mediterranean Sea Reconstruction Reanalysis (MED RR)

The Mediterranean Sea Reconstruction and Reanalysis data set (RR) spans the time period 1955-2015 has been developed by INGV within the framework of NEXTDATA project and distributed and yearly updated by the Copernicus Monitoring Environment Marine Service (CMEMS) phase I from the Med-MFC (Monitoring and Forecasting Center). The ocean general circulation model is based on the Nucleos for European Modelling of the Ocean (NEMO version 3.2-3.4) code, forced by AMIP data and relaxed to Hadley SST. The Med RR assimilated salinity and temperature profiles and along track Sea Level Anomaly data through a variational data assimilation schema (OceanVar). The model has a horizontal grid resolution of 1/16th of degree (ca. 6-7km) and 72 unevenly spaced vertical levels.
